Long gone are the days where PrEP would be in addition to condoms and we’d be told that some gay men “struggle with condoms”. We have now entered a phase where barebacking is promoted, glorified and normalised within the gay community. Felching and fisting are also promoted as “normal”. They are not. Do not judge! Do not slut shame!
Its odd how these guys are concerned about HIV but not other STIs which are ravaging through the gay community. Of course they are not bothered as that would mean they would have to promote and use condoms. It really is a mental health issue when you have little concern about your sexual health and that of your partners.
It is also worth noting that PrEP did not “work” in this case. That’s a red herring as the poz guy was undetectable and, as we have been repeatedly told, posed little risk of HIV transmission.
But in the real world how can you know another man’s HIV status and infection level with any certainty? He may not even know for sure himself. Meet a guy who is infectious and PrEP will be less effective than a condom used correctly.
